Recently I contributed to this piece that a bunch of us cartoonists made as a sendoff to Tom Dell’Aringa’s fantastic comic Marooned, which will be winding up in the next few months.

I got reacquainted with the comic Road Apples Almanac by Don Ahé a few weeks back. Both he and I did guest strips for Christopher Baldwin’s Spacetrawler. Chris likened Road Apples to one of my favorite old timey comic strips, Krazy Kat. I couldn’t agree more. It has a certain timeless quality, taking place in the present, and yet it feels old and wise.
