    Shouldn’t Muffin be asking what a walnut is?

    Also, I hope Ellie is just playing around. The implications of NASA having had the technology –thirty years ago– to know what a brain is doing, (especially without ever having previously mapped one of the same species,) are just too terrifying to contemplate.

      My thought was that Muffin isn’t interested enough to care what a walnut is.

      As for NASA – Ellie was sent by my predecessors here at the Strang Institute, not the US government. Who knows what other kinds of scientific research was going on here back in the late 70’s? I’ll have to go down to the basement and pull out some of those old files, dust them off, and have a look-see.

      Actually, since one of the first alien words she said was ‘potato’, one could assume ‘walnut’ also has a local analogue.

        Exactly! Ellie’s translations aren’t literal.

    I’m with CheckeredMan. Your background/word balloon color swap in panel three was a great move.

    @Denver (thecheckeredman): Thanks much. The sentiment is mutual.

    @Drewbie: Thank you too!

    Now that I think of it, do they have foil on planet X? Or tin for that matter?

    I love the 3rd panel, heehee.

    Also, really dig what you do in the background with the grass, highlights,etc. Fun effects…

    @Frank: If they don’t, I’m sure Ellie will find a suitable substitute.

    @Anthony: Thanks as always!
