Jeff the Muscular Hydrostat
It seems that most fauna of Planet X (that we’ve encountered so far) is without an internal skeleton, except for a skull-like structure protecting their brains. So how does Jeff manage to smush his skull into a small glass jar? We’re not quite sure. But we know he has something in common with this guy here.
Wish I could do that Jim. Like Jeff I need some alone time which is hard to come by with a teenager, 2 cats and a dog in the house. Maybe if I get rid of the teenager??
Great strip Anderson!!
Thanks Sue! I find that the shower is a good place to hide, although eventually that hot water runs out.
Jeff = awesome.
Nuff said.
Message regarding his awesomeness has been sent to Jeff. Now we only have to wait 16 years for his reaction. Thanks Denver!
Hahaha!! This is really funny! I like how Jeff deforms…
..and the squeeak-sound…
…what sound will we hear if he get’s out of the glas? “Phump”?
Fantastic strip!!!
Thanks Carsten. We’ll keep “Phump” in mind. 😀
Always an adorable and funny comic!
Thanks Mia!
I was about to call Shenanigans on the lack of a skeletal structure, but then I noticed it said “internal”. Because Jeff most certainly has teeth!
Not neccessarily. Jeff’s from another planet – what looks like teeth in his mouth, for all we know, might be soft tissue that serves some entirely different function and not bony or even used to mash up food. I trust Ellie. If she says he’s skeletonless, I believe he’s skeletonless.
Couldn’t have said it better, Redd. When you’re on another planet, nothing is as it seems. Unless it is. Then go with your gut.
Cute art and funny comic, as usual. Great job, as usual.
Maybe Jeff has some kind of cartilaginous skull ? that would explain how he can distort it without any problem, ’cause it would take its original form back as soon as it would go out… maybe not solid enough ?
And the octopus need a little sign telling “get off my jar, you little brats !”
Thanks dralou! We were thinking the same thing about his skull.
Hahaha, yeah, have no idea why he did that but funny 🙂 btw, “like tongue”? haha puts thing to perspective 😉
I really enjoyed this one – great issue
Sean, alecho, thanks a bunch!
You could probably sell Jiffy Jeff in a Jar.
Not sure if that would be good eatin’, even if you got your chocolate in my Jiffy Jeff.
What can I say. What a great set up and pay off. Plus panels 2 & 4 are hilarious.
Thanks Frank!
This might be my favorite strip yet!
Thanks Figgs. I’ll have to work to top that.
I’m hung up on one point: where did they get a glass jar? If Ellie brought it with her, well, why would she? Glass is heavy, so you don’t want it in a spacecraft unless there’s a reason, and the only reason I can think to put a glass jar in a robot-only spacecraft is to store dangerous chemicals. The other thing is Jeff talks like he’s used to doing this, suggesting the jar probably didn’t arrive with Ellie.
So where did Jeff get a glass jar? This suggests interesting things about the industry of this planet, that it’s more advanced than it seems, or possibly even more interesting things about life here. What if there are living things which make glass like diatoms but bigger or glass sponges with less holes?
