Opie’s Odyssey

Last month, NASA’s Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter snapped a photo of the Curiosity Rover from many miles above (click on the pic to actually see it).
So we took a look through our archives here at Mission Control for something similar. We came up with this image of Ellie cruising through the Jungle Oasis, deep in the heart of the Tranquility Crater Valley.
We’ll let you know right here if anything else new develops concerning Ellie. Stay tuned!

Thanks, N0083rp00F and Number 6! They don’t celebrate any holidays on Planet X per se, but they do have at least one important day. Once a year, no one knows exactly when, the giant juicy roots reach their maximum ripeness, and only if they haven’t been all consumed by Camelons, the citizens of the Jungle Oasis gorge themselves until they can’t eat anymore. They then drag themselves back to the Oasis to nap and watch Football. Football is one of the youngest inhabitants of the Oasis. He’s pretty comical.
Darnit, if only we were still receiving Ellie’s live feed several times a week like we used to, we might get a chance to watch Football too! 🙁
Maybe Ellie can introduce them to some new traditions, like the decorating of the giant-juicy-root-eating-day tree? Or perhaps singing some festive giant-juicy-root-eating-day carols? 😉
It’s been five years.
FIVE.
YEARS.
No way?! 5 years? Now that makes me feel old.
Think of all the backlog of transmissions. They must be running out of drive storage space at Mission Control by now. We might end up losing valuable video entirely, like NASA did with the original moon landing videos. (Seriously, how do you lose that?!?!)
Since I last posted a real strip? Not quite five, but almost. I promise work is going on. You’ll eventually get to see it all, in some form or another. I’ll post a little something in a bit.
