Real nice strip! But I didn’t know Mayberry N.C. had a launch pad! I hope we get to ‘meet’ Opie one day!

They don’t. Just like Nevada doesn’t have an Area 51. Mwhahahaha!

There is no Area 51 in Nevada. There is nothing to see here. Pleas move along.

        Never underestimate Floyd the barber.

Thanks, Rich! I’m sure Opie will “show up” again. 🙂

Does Planet X have bats or some other being that uses Ultrasound? She might have better luck explaining it that way.

The alternative is to launch Muffin into orbit briefly and show him the satellite which, while pretty cool, would probably not be to his liking

More practically, she could use her green-light-projector to generate a hologram showing Planet X with Opie orbiting it. Given enough time, she might even be able to MacGyver up some glass lenses from sand, assuming Xian sand is made of silica, and build a telescope to let Muffin view Opie directly. On the other hand, she might think it’s more fun just to let Muffin continue to believe she’s hearing imaginary voices.

Oh, I can see that already
        “That can’t be right”
        “Why not?”
“It shows the world is round potato-shaped! Everyone knows the world is flat square!”

They seem fine with the idea that Ellie is a mechanical life form and visitor from an alien planet, so they’re probably sophisticated enough to accept the spud-shaped-world theory. (Though Muffin might object anyway just to be stubborn)

I have this image of Ellie waling down a dirt road whistling the Andy Griffith Show theme song and carrying a fishing pole, with Muffin tagging along…

that should be “walking”, not waling!

Thanks for all the comments everyone. If I were actually writing this strip, as opposed to just reporting what gets downloaded from Ellie and Opie on my computer everyday, there’d be a ton of ideas to mine here!

Getting kind of a C3PO/R2D2 vibe here.
