Mat Washburn, creator of the comic strip Evan Yeti, has a feature on his blog called Web Artist Wednesday. This week it features Ellie on Planet X where I answer his twelve questions as honestly and intelligently as possible. Go see!

We showed you a sketch of Ellie’s satellite, Opie, the other day. Now here’s Opie’s pic of Planet X’s natural satellites. This is another part of this project.
Here’s a quick sketch of Ellie’s Orbital Platform, or O.P. for short. But the crew here at Mission Control just call our bus-sized satellite Opie. He doesn’t say much, but he’s got the important job of relaying signals back and forth between Ellie and Earth, as well as forecasting weather, guiding Ellie on the safest path (though she doesn’t always take it), and taking fantastic high detail photos of the planet’s surface. You can see him represented in the Mission Control hologram map of Planet X in this pic here.
A few weeks back I posted this mysterious photo:
Now it can be explained! This here’s some more fun stuff slated for the Ellie On Planet X collection that’s slooooowly taking shape. It’s turning out better than I thought.
Last weekend at Kids Read Comics I met several artists that were all kinds of awesome. One of them was Diana Nock, creator of a web comic about another little female automaton, The Intrepid Girlbot! I picked up her first volume and lookit the cool drawing she did for me. Go check out more of Girlbot’s adventures at intrepidgirlbot.com!
This last weekend was a blast at Kids Read Comics in Ann Arbor, Michigan. So much so that I didn’t get a chance to get back to Mission Control to upload Ellie’s latest transmission in time. I mean, it’s not as if you aren’t all waiting to find out if Muffin ever figures out how to get her working properly again, right?
So I’ll be back at the Strang Institute tomorrow and Ellie’s latest will be up Tuesday morning. In the meantime, here are a few pics of some of the sketchcards I did at Kids Read Comics. Enjoy, and see you tomorrow!
Here’s a painting of Jeff that I donated for some lucky person to win at this weekend’s Kids Read Comics event. Yep, that’s real live paint. None of that digital stuff.
Hey everybody! The Strang Institute is going to be closed the rest of the week for the 4th of July holiday here in the U.S. So, alas, no new comic on Thursday. I know, I know. To make up for that, here’s a poster I did a few years back for Kids Read Comics, the event I’m attending this Saturday and Sunday in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Jeff was green. Muffin’s nose was pink. How weird is that?
Check back though. I may still be able to sneak into Mission Control and post a few things between now and next Monday. See you then!
