Ellie, along with her fellow Spacedock 7 compadres, had a nice write up at the home of geek culture, Geeks Unleashed! Go and check out all the nice things they said about us!

One of my favorite comic strips ended yesterday. So in honor of Richard Thompson’s Cul de Sac, I drew Petey reading his favorite comic.
Our pal Joel Duggan has got an Indiegogo campaign going to create the first volume of his stupendous comic Starcrossed. He’s got about 12 days left and only needs $400 to reach his goal. Go help him out. Be the hero to get him across the finish line! Plus, . . . and maybe I ain’t supposed ta say . . . I wrote the introduction and did a little pin up to go along with it. Here’s a little peek below. Now go buy some awesome comics!
Call it sun spot activity. Whatever it is, there’s all kinds of craziness going on at Mission Control this week and getting today’s comic online for you to read has met with a lot of road blocks. So I’m making the call and Ellie, Jeff, Muffin, Balloon Boy, and Sparkles will be back on Monday. Meanwhile, check out some other great comics over there on the left hand side of the page, including my buds at Spacedock 7.
See you Monday!
So yesterday I gave a talk about Ellie on Planet X at the Ann Arbor District Library. It was a lot of fun and I’d like to take the time to thank everyone who was involved from Jerzy Drozd, who invited me out, Sharon Iverson, who organized everything, Diego for getting my files, and Matt for setting everything computery up for me.
So, yeah. No new comic though. And this after I told everyone at the library I was going right back to the Strang Institute to get to work on it. Well…it’s ALMOST done. I want to do something extra good for everybody because the next strip will be number 200! It’s all written (the hard part) and it just needs to be drawn and colored (the easy/fun part). I’ll post it as soon as it’s finished, Tuesday morning at the latest. I think it’s going to be pretty good.
As a treat, here’s a drawing of Ellie done by Paul Celano, one of the awesome people who came out to see my presentation!
Just a reminder! Tomorrow, Sunday, September 9th from 1 to 3pm, I’ll be guest speaking at the Ann Arbor District Library about all things Ellie. According to the AADL website: James Anderson gives a glimpse into how he creates a world of alien flora and fauna for his web comic strip “Ellie on Planet X!” Catch his great ideas about the art of worldbuilding.
Join the Forum to get fresh ideas for your next comics or graphic novel creation. Drawing supplies will be provided, so drop in to draw, learn, and network with other cartoonists. Plus, there’ll be never before seen artwork like this guy here:
And it’s FREE!

So it’s Labor Day here in the U.S. of A. and, as you can see, there’s no new Ellie strip to brighten your afternoon. Well, that’s partly due to the holiday, and also due to me getting back to Mission Control rather late last night. Whilst out walking her dog, my significant other happened upon a Cooper’s Hawk that had seemingly flown into a window and hurt itself rather badly. So being the first responder to all things animalia that she is, she scooped it up and brought it home.
We spent some time calling around and finding someone who took in injured birds of prey and, with the help of our friend, the local bird lady, we found a place an hour away and in the middle of nowhere. The woman who took our hawk in was great. We know our Alice the Cooper’s Hawk is in good hands!
We’ll have a new strip for you in the morning, but here’s a sketch of what appears to be a female Meandering Wobblyjog. That’s our assumption anyway as they tend to be larger than the males.
