Thanks Frank. When I read your post I kept imagining Will Ferrell impersonating James Lipton from the Actor’s Studio saying, “You are a dee-LIGHT!”

Now all I can think of is Chris Baldwin’s little dee about to set something on fire

Well it had to happen some day. Just be grateful Jeff was around, or she’d be stuck like that 60 years!

Wait, it was Jeff who caused it. Never mind then.

Just be grateful that it didn’t happen like this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Runaround

Hey, I read “Runaround”. It’s much more breathtaking than that summary makes it

I should re-read I, Robot. It’s been years. Not sure if the Three Laws of Robotics even applies to Ellie.

I once heard about a dog that this happened to.

He had been trained to never leave the property, which worked fine until it was time to move.

The entire family is standing on the road next to the car, calling for him, and he’s frozen stiff, shuddering and drooling from having his little doggy brain lock up.

He didn’t get better until someone picked him up and carried him off of the property, which apparently resolved the contradiction.

Sometimes it just takes a little thwack to get you where you need to be. Or for someone to pick you up and carry you. And give you chocolate. Unless you’re a dog, for obvious reasons.
