Fun Time’s Over
Don’t forget, if you want to get a special Ellie on Planet X holiday greeting, just make sure you’ve left a comment here some time in the past, or follow us via Facebook or (now) Twitter.
We’ll be sending them out Friday at 12am. Don’t miss out!
@Frank. You called it!
I’m innocent! It all happened over 30 years ago!
Oh, noes! A transmission failure! Will this be the end?
((Duh, of course not…)
Oh, wouldn’t that just stink if the strip just ended like this?
Of course it wouldn’t be the end, but 38 years is a loooooong time for us all to have to wait before you start drawing the results of the rescue mission!
Noooo! Must have more Ellie! Someone fix her!
All hope is not lost (although, I must admit to some freaking out a bit here at Mission Control).
Somebody has to say it: “Strang, we’ve had a problem…” Oh no!
There are contingencies!
It might not be the little guy’s fault… maybe Ellie didn’t pay her cable bill!
Or it got stuck in the mail. 8 light years is a long way to go.
Well, now that channel’s not coming in at all! Move the antenna back the other way.
Tin foil works too.
I love Ellie (and so does my dad). I’m six. My favorite joke from Ellie on Planet X is everything. (Jeff is pretty funny, too.) I love to watch the Dance-O-Scope over and over. My dad loves “21 Caterslinks” and wants to learn more about the variety of inhabitants of Planet X.
Don’t worry. I’m sure they’ll get her fixed up
Yeah, they’ll get her fixed, right?
Thank you very much, Maud! I’m thrilled you love Ellie. You made my day! I plan on having some more fun things to share with you in the future. And tell your dad that there will be more about the many varieties of Planet X inhabitants to come too. Thanks for writing!
Maud is the coolest 6 year old ever!
Ellie couldn’t possibly have been transmitting when she was deep underground in the cave, therefore she must have a buffer where she records stuff that happens when she is unable to transmit for later broadcast. She’s obviously very resourceful, so hopefully she gets this fixed before the buffer fills up, and we won’t miss anything at all! (Crosses fingers, knocks on wood….)
Yep! She records a certain amount into a buffer and then transmits that all off in one shot. The buffer isn’t cleared right away though. Certain info is held back in memory if it’s important. But just like a human brain, Ellie’s is finite. It eventually will fill up and then older less important info will be purged. She’ll literally “forget” things. That’s not due to happen for quite a long time though.

That would be helpful in sooooo many ways. 😀
