Mr. Wallowmuck Waxes Poetic
Today’s strip comes to us from Christopher Baldwin who creates the fantastic comic Space Trawler. If you recall, I did a guest strip for him a few months back and now he’s returning the favor. It’s nice to see Mr. Wallowmuck again. I’d wondered if Ellie would get back to him at some point. He appears to be a lot more eloquent than I thought. Still loves his mud though. 🙂
I’ll be back from my “working vacation” and return to Mission Control in two weeks (April 22). We’ve still got more guest comics to show you!

Nice job, Christopher! You did a great job of interpreting Jim’s style while putting your own spin on it. -v
Fun!
It’s everything you’d hope from a guest comic. Fantastic stuff, Chris!
Daw! Thanks, guys!
All around just wonderful
Thank YOU, Christopher!
Whew! Took me 3 evenings but I read your archive. Great stuff. To understand my perspective, I’m 70 years old and have been reading comics ever since the 40s.
Your drawing style reminds me of the Fairytale Comics which were popular at that time, soft and surprisingly captiviating. You might get a chuckle that your color palette was also popular with kids back then.
I can honestly say that you are the first artist/illustrator I’ve seen in many years that has managed to capture the ‘spirit’ of Dr. Suess in your lines and characters, yet have made something original and unique.
I wish you much luck and, as they say in Japan, you have made quiet art.
Rhadamanthus,
Thank you so much for your comments. I often have a hard time accepting complements, as I can be such a downer on my own work, but there’s something in what you wrote that just sticks with me and makes me feel good. Like I’m moving in the right direction, because you noticed things in the comic that I’ve been striving for. Not the Dr. Suess part, although he’s very definitely an influence. Mostly the part about making quiet art. That puts into words exactly what I strive to do. Here’s hoping I can make it quieter and quieter.
Thanks, Rhadamanthus. You not only made my day, you made me think about it.
And Chris, I enjoy both Little Dee and Spacetrawler, and I must add to the compliments above that you have done a great piece of guest art. It is extremely difficult to model other artists characters yet you have managed to capture James’ style. Very good.
BTW, good luck with your foray into 3D modeling; I love it. I use both Poser/DAZ Studio and Blender among others. It can only increase your skills.
Thanks, @Rhadamanthus!
