Before we got a good look at Muffin in Ellie’s transmissions, we had to take a guess at what he might look like from a few blurry photos.
Here’s a random page from one of my sketchbooks. There’s some Jeffs, Ellies, and Muffins in there, plus a couple of David Lettermans and a Queen! Enjoy!
We’re starting to make some plans here at Mission Control for year two of Ellie on Planet X, and those plans include doing a little advertising. I thought I’d share this fun ad I worked up with a little animated Ellie and Balloon Boy going on. The line “Rocket Through the Wilderness” is a take-off of a line from the B-52s song Roam (“Rock It Through the Wilderness”). It’s kind of the unofficial theme song for our family friendly comic.
Mission Control employs a team of many to scour the internet to bring you all the news about Ellie. Yesterday they came upon a very cool drawing of everyone’s favorite Planet X explorer by a young girl named Maud.
Normally we’d ask for permission to post anything as cool as this, but we couldn’t find any way to contact MaudĀ and her parents. So we’re just showing a small part of it. Hopefully they’ll see this post and know how delighted we are by her drawing and let us post it in its entirety. She even included Jeff and Muffin in her drawing too!
Thank you Maud!
You’re incredible!
I went rooting through some old papers here at Mission Control and discovered two pages of an interview with Dr. Strang in a 1968 copy of Awesome Science Magazine. Click on the picture to read it!
Sorry, the rest of the interview is missing. But in the back of the magazine I found these classified ads under the cartooning heading (for reals). I’d have paid $4.95 to get an education in commercial art!
